APF Chair Sue Claydon has joined over 200 Christian bishops and other leaders from over 40 countries in signing a petition calling for an end to the humanitarian catastrophe of the war in Gaza and to bring about peace in the wider Middle East.
Organised by Churches for Middle East Peace, the petition was delivered to the respective governments of the signatories. The letter calls for all governments to work for a sustainable ceasefire in the Middle East, humanitarian aid to be delivered where needed, especially to Gaza, the return of the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza and the suspension of arms sales to Israel.

I like the theory of peace researcher Franz Jedlicka that world peace will only be possible when all forms of violence (“Culture of Violence Scale”) will be banned legally in all countries of the world – starting with a legal ban of child corporal punishment. Or do you think that the world can become peaceful when already violence against children is still allowed in two thirds of the countries worldwide?
Best regards, Angela
Thank you for sharing your insight. I’m not familiar with the work of Fanz Jedlicka. I agree that the struggle against violence and for peace throughout all levels of society from the household to the global stage is closely interlinked. A lot of work has been done exploring the links between violence in the home and militarism, revealing a sort of feedback loop.
In peace,
Sarah, APF Coordinator
