Sue Claydon, APF Chair, introduces the prayers by explaining that Advent is traditionally a time of waiting with a focus on the Bethlehem of 2,000 years but this year our prayers also cover the conflict Palestine and Israel. There are Bible readings from Isaiah 9: 6-7 and Matthew 2: 16-18.
Sue Gilmurray contributes three songs: Carol for the world, Away in a manger (For the innocents) also And a child can lead us. Midway through the service, Jonathan Hartfield, Chair of APF New Zealand, gives a very interesting reflection on the Nativity: God’s choice.
