APF are joint signatories to a petition calling on the Ukrainian government to cease from harassing conscientious objectors and, in particular, to drop f the evidently vexatious charges against Yuri Sheliazhenko, the Executive Secretary of the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement. We further call upon the EU to make compliance with the right to Conscientious Objection as enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights a prerequisite for Ukraine’s requested membership of the EU.
The text also condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the documented ill-treatment of conscientious objectors in Russia.
