CND are arranging a Day of Action with events throughout the UK on Saturday 11th of May to protest against the return of US nuclear weapons to Lakenheath airbase in Suffolk.
APF will be a visible presence at two of these events: in Lakenheath and in Swansea. If you are able to get to either of these places on the day, it would be great if you could come along and join in our witness against these weapons of mass destruction and ecocide. If you are not near either of those centres, the link below will show where CND are holding events around the UK.
Lakenheath Event
Join peace activists at RAF Lakenheath, protesting against US plans to base deadly nuclear bombs at the base. This would put Britain on the nuclear frontline. The threat of nuclear weapons being used again in war is growing. But so is public opposition! Join the protest, learn more about what’s going on at this base and help build our campaign to stop nuclear bombs coming back to Lakenheath!
Date: Saturday 11 May
Time: Midday to 2pm (followed by peace picnic if weather holds!)
Place: Lakenheath Main Gate (Gate 1), Brandon Road, Brandon IP27 9PN
Nearest station: Brandon – 15 minutes’ drive by taxi
Swansea Event
We will be joining CND activists with the APF banner outside Barclays’ Bank, Oxford Street in Swansea City Centre between 1-4pm. There will be a table where we will be encouraging members of the public to sign postcards protesting the return of nuclear weapons to Lakenheath.
