Peace Poetry Event

11th November 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm

£6 – £12

As World War I has come to represent war in essence (at least for Western Europe), so Armistice Day serves to represent peace. It is worth our while, as thinking and intentional beings, to give some proper consideration to peace. Peace is more than just an absence of killing, persecution, and forced flight. I know that to allow peace to grow and flourish, people must recognise peace, its full potential and power, in and with our thoughts.

Each guest poet has been asked for a response to ‘War’ poem of choice, in the form of a poem to be part of creating a vision of peace as it can and will be lived. A couple of the poets have a visual-art element to their work and will be working with that.

Two middle eastern poets will also contribute, Marad, a Syrian refugee settled in Oxfordshire, and a Lebanese engineer living in London, who has experienced war in her own country.

There will also be a short open mic.
