This week, the 27th November until the 1st December is the Second Meeting of State Parties, happening at the UN in New York this week to uphold the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. A global interfaith group of organisations including the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship, have issued a statement supporting the work of the TPNW.

The statement recognises the existential threat posed by nuclear weapons to the earth and to all living beings, contrary to the will of their Creator. We acknowledge the harm that has already been done both by the nuclear bombs detonated over Hiroshima and Nagasaki and to the generations globally whose lives have been blighted by nuclear testing. We commend the TPNW for its awareness and concern for the variety of ways people especially marginalised and indigenous populations particularly suffer as a result of the nuclear arms industry. Collectively, we deplore the false doctrine of mutual deterrence.
